News: 'Together for Biodiversity Awards' open for community groups, farmers, schools and individuals across Ireland
Biodiversity awards, supported by Irish Wildlife Trust & Dublin Port Company, have just been launched. The winners will be announced in February at the National Biodiversity Conference in Dublin Castle, which is being co-organised by the Irish Forum on Natural Capital and the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Blog: Environmental-economic and Ecosystem Accounting: How can we account for nature?
The UN's System for Environmental-Economic Accounts (SEEA) is a standard that helps countries, regions and organisations better understand they way the environment interacts with the economy, and Ireland is required to develop certain elements of the SEEA by law. Earlier this year, we hosted a workshop with the SEEA's author, Carl Obst, to hear more about how it works. We also heard from Gerry Brady at the Central Statistics Office, who gave us an update on Ireland's progress in implementing the SEEA. (Read More)
