About Natural Capital Ireland

Natural Capital Ireland (NCI) is a membership organisation made up of a range of organisations and individuals from academic, public, private and NGO sectors interested in the development and application of the natural capital agenda in Ireland. It is structured as a Company Limited by Guarantee, governed by a Board, led by a Steering Committee and administered by a Secretariat. As of 2023, we have over 1,300 subscribers.

 

About the role

NCI is seeking to recruit independent contractors to support the running of the organisation and a range of projects. The work will be varied and may include:

 

• Tendering for projects relating to natural capital and biodiversity

• Supporting the Executive Coordinator and Communications Executive on the delivery of projects relating to natural capital and biodiversity

• Organisation of events and webinars 

• Support with research and analysis relating to natural capital and biodiversity

• Support with engaging our 1,300+ subscribers

 

About the candidate 

Desired skills:

• Knowledge of and interest in the natural capital approach

• Knowledge of and interest in issues relating to biodiversity and sustainability 

• Excellent organisational skills, and experience in working independently

• Proven ability to communicate technical information in a digestible format

 

The successful candidate will gain experience working with a multi-stakeholder non-profit. They will have the opportunity to engage with and learn from national and international experts in the fields of natural capital, biodiversity and sustainability.

 

Details of time commitment, self-employment and fees

Contractors are self-employed and may be called on to provide their services for between 2 and 12 days per month. Days are not guaranteed and may fluctuate according to workloads. Contractors will receive guidance and management from the Natural Capital Ireland Secretariat.

 

Contractors set their own daily rate with Board agreement, depending on skills and experience.

 

Contractors have full control over how, when and where they conduct their work. All contractors must provide their own equipment. Working with NCI does not preclude contractors from providing similar services to other organisations. Please see here for further details of self-employment.
